Animation makes great use of PROPORTION in order to help establish protagonists, antagonists, comic characters and other archetypes. You are provided with the standard Proportion guide for the classic ‘Heavy’/Bad Guy/Pugnacious character; the Cute Character; the Goofy Character; and the Screwball Character. Using the style-guide formula, create your own unique character for each archetype.

Requirements: Pick an object or objects; Produce at least 18 thumbnail sketches of that object where you explore, Try:  using all curved lines/twist straight parts of object;  using nothing but straight lines;  varying the thickness of the lines;  repeat favorite lines & shapes;  positive & negative reversals  distil objects to simple shapes (ovals, squares, triangles)  rearrange / splice parts of object;  change proportions of objects;  distort / exaggerate shape of object;  use contrasting colors;  overlap shapes and change colors in overlapped areas;
